Building Dreams & Living Life to the Fullest: A Personal Journey Through Construction, Family, and Passion
More Than Just a Business: The Heart Behind Caballero Contracting Texas, LLC
When I founded Caballero Contracting Texas, LLC, I wasn’t just launching a business—I was creating a way to bring dreams to life. Whether it's crafting a beautiful home, transforming an outdated space, or repairing a storm-damaged roof, every project is personal to me. I pour my heart into each build, ensuring my clients receive not just top-tier craftsmanship but also a seamless, enjoyable experience.
But before I was a contractor—before my days were spent working with my hands and managing projects—I was just a kid with a passion for building. My journey into construction didn’t start with business plans or investment strategies; it started with Legos, Erector Sets, and an insatiable curiosity about how things fit together. There were no design apps or YouTube tutorials back then—just my imagination and a drive to create something from nothing.
Today, as the owner of a thriving construction company in the DFW area, I still carry that same excitement, curiosity, and problem-solving mentality into every project. I’ve realized that by helping others build their dreams, I’m also building mine.
But my life isn’t just about work. My business is deeply intertwined with my personal passions—from family adventures to pushing my limits on the racetrack. This is my story, and this is the story of Caballero Contracting Texas, LLC.
Balancing Business, Family, and Adventure
The Thrill of Speed & the Art of Precision
One of my greatest passions outside of work is racing. There’s something about hitting the track, feeling the tires grip the pavement, and pushing a car to its limits that speaks to my soul. It’s an adrenaline rush, a mental challenge, and a test of skill—all wrapped into one.
On the track, time seems to slow down. My mind sharpens, my reflexes kick in, and I focus entirely on the precision needed to navigate every turn perfectly. It’s a feeling that’s hard to describe, but those who love to drive know exactly what I mean.
This same need for precision carries over into my work. In construction, just like on the racetrack, there’s no room for error. A poorly laid foundation, a miscalculated measurement, or a rushed job can lead to disaster. That’s why I treat every project like a race—meticulously planning each move, fine-tuning the details, and executing with precision.
Cycling: Pushing Limits & Creating Family Bonds
When I’m not behind the wheel of a fast car, you can often find me on a bike. Cycling is one of my favorite ways to challenge myself physically and mentally. Whether I’m riding solo to test my endurance or with my family to enjoy quality time together, there’s something freeing about feeling the world move beneath me.
Some of my favorite places to ride include White Rock Lake in Dallas and Trinity Trails in Fort Worth. These spots offer stunning views, challenging trails, and the perfect blend of exertion and relaxation.
Cycling has taught me discipline, perseverance, and resilience—qualities I bring into my work. When you’re pedaling up a steep incline, muscles burning and lungs gasping for air, you have two choices: quit or push through. I always choose to push through, and that mindset fuels everything I do.
Snowboarding, Adventure, and Family Traditions
One of my favorite family traditions is taking road trips to national parks, exploring landmarks, and discovering new places together. But one destination holds a special place in our hearts—Breckenridge, Colorado.
Over New Year’s break, we packed up and headed to the mountains for an unforgettable snowboarding adventure. Just before a massive storm rolled in, we were lucky enough to experience over 12 inches of fresh powder daily. If you’ve ever snowboarded on fresh powder, you know there’s nothing quite like it.
Watching my kids learn and improve their snowboarding skills is one of the most rewarding experiences. I encourage them to push themselves in everything they do—whether it’s carving down a steep slope or taking on life’s challenges head-on.
On that trip, we also had the chance to ride dog sleds led by Iditarod champions and take a snowmobile excursion near Frisco. And, of course, no trip to Breckenridge is complete without a stop at Eric’s—just be sure to get there early, because after 6:00 PM, the wait is at least two hours!
Snowboarding, much like construction and life itself, is all about balance, timing, and the willingness to fall and get back up again.
Faith, Family & Fire (Literally): The Holy Smokers BBQ Brotherhood
Beyond business and adventure, faith and family are at the core of who I am. That’s why I’m part of an incredible group called The Holy Smokers at my church, Holy Trinity by the Lake Episcopal Church in Heath, TX.
We’re a 52-member brotherhood that meets monthly to talk about BBQ, faith, and family. It’s more than just cooking meat—it’s about community, mentorship, and growing together in life and faith.
I’ll never forget our first BBQ competition, where we placed 9th in the spare ribs category. Not bad for a group of guys who just love to cook and share good food!
Barbecue, much like construction, requires patience, attention to detail, and a deep respect for the craft. It’s not just about throwing meat on the grill—it’s about slow cooking, knowing when to adjust the temperature, and taking the time to do it right. Just like with my projects, I never rush the process—I take the time to get it right the first time.
Building More Than Just Structures
Everything I’ve shared—the thrill of racing, the discipline of cycling, the adventure of snowboarding, the joy of BBQ, and the value of faith and family—all ties into why I do what I do.
Construction isn’t just about building homes, outdoor spaces, or renovating pools. It’s about creating spaces where families make memories, where people feel safe and comfortable, and where dreams come to life.
I started Caballero Contracting Texas, LLC because I wanted to help people build their dreams, just like I’ve been fortunate enough to build mine. I take pride in every roof we install, every outdoor space we transform, and every pool we renovate because I know that those spaces will become the backdrop for family gatherings, celebrations, and everyday life.
Whether I’m on a bike, a snowboard, behind the wheel of a fast car, or standing on a job site, I’m always thinking about how to push myself further, how to improve, and how to make a meaningful impact.
